I have a very large 20yr old Hawaiian Orchid tree need advice when the right time of year is to trim it
What is the right time of year to trim Hawaiian Orchid trees?
I would think that being a tropical tree it would not matter a lot However I would prefer to trim after the flowers and before the seeds were set.
This would reduce the number of volunteers, and give maximum growing time before the next flowering. I have one that is about ten years old and grown from seed, and have trimmed it more or less at need but never a major cutting back.
Reply:Whoa! After flowering..when all frost is clear...Please trim not cut...open up the inside branches and those crossing causing scar tissue...Softly,Softly..one month after feed some blood and bone and a deep watering for the summer.
