A few days ago I decided my Orchid might need a little more sun light, so I put it in the windowsill for a few hours. When I went to get it, I noticed that the leaf facing the window had developed a large brown spot...I know I probably burned the leaf, but the spot seems to be getting bigger...What should I do for it? Thanks
I think I really hurt my orchid!?
Move it to less light. Too much will burn the leaves and too little will leave them dark green. Place them behind a shade or by some blinds to control the light. Direct sunlight burns the heck out of them.
They grow naturally in the rain forests on tree bark beneath the shade of a tree. Try to mimic this environment.
Reply:I agree with Rich. Hot, direct sunlight will burn orchid leaves. In addition, if the brown spot keeps spreading, remove the leaf. Give your orchid fertilizer and new growth will appear.
