Help...Phalaenopsis Orchid?

I have twelve phals BS and near BS sitting on a stand by the window and for some reason they all have like a purple red wine colour on the under side of the leaves. I don't know if its getting too much sun exposure. Plants are located on the east side of the window. I water them two times a week when spahgnum moss is near dry and fertilizer on the second week with 1/4 strength 20-20-20. I hung a plastic sheet on the window to reduce sun light intensity. I just can't figure out why this is happening to my phals, if you have an answer, please let me know.

thanks

Help...Phalaenopsis Orchid?
I would say that you are doing everything RIGHT!! My Phals are also in a East facing window and they LOVE it. If they look like they are shriveling, then I would move them out of the window!

Make sure that your plants get enough humidity!! I put rocks in the saucers under my Phals and then fill the saucers with water!!

Good Luck!!
Reply:Direct sunlight will often turn phalaenopsis leaves reddish. I've had phals on a window sill with direct afternoon sun, and besides a slight leaf color change and faded flowers, they were fine. Unless the plant appears to be suffering, I wouldn't worry about it.

You also might want to do a check for bugs. There's an off chance that they could be affecting the leaves.
