The fabric on zippers is usually made of nylon. If this is true for your zipper, then you can dye the zipper with a good dye for nylon. Dye or fabric paint would be better than another sort of paint, because it is far less likely to interfere with the zipper's ability to zip and unzip. You can use an all-purpose dye, such as Rit dye, on nylon, but add vinegar (6 tablespoons per gallon) the the water you dissolve the dye in. You will need to heat the zipper in the dye to get the dye to bond well to the nylon. See the page below for information on dyeing nylon.

If your zipper's fabric is made of polyester, then don't dye it. Most dyes will not stick to polyester at all; the special disperse dyes that do work on polyester are not available locally, but must be purchased by mail order. Instead, use a thin fabric paint which flows like a dye, such as Jacquard's Dye-Na-Flow fabric paint.
Reply:Why don't you just purchase a plain white or silver one and spray paint it? Make sure the zipper is apart so that it will not get painted shut. Also, make sure to use a spray paint that is able to be used on a metal surface. Be sure to allow the paint to dry thoroughly and you may also want to apply a clear coat protectant on it as well.
