How do you re-pot an orchid?

How big a pot? Should I separate the "bulbs"? What type of stuff should I use in the pot?

How do you re-pot an orchid?
Just remember that orchids bloom best when crowded in their pot. Use a pot just slightly larger if you have to change the pot. Orchids love to spill out and hang from the pot, this doesn;t necessarily mean they need to be put in a larger pot. They sell metal clips to help keep the plant in the pot.
Reply:You need to get Orchid planting medium. Looks a lot like bark mulch. Available at Home Depot. It is much like re-planting any plant, you just need to use the special orchid "soil". Also, you'll see directions on the package.
Reply:Use the planting medium that the previous poster suggested. The pot should be big enough to cover all the roots, you don't need to separate any part of the plant. If you have some dead roots go ahead and cut them off. Just be sure that your scissors is sterile(orchids get diseases really easy).

p.s. be sure to soak the new plant medium over night then drain.
