Check with the American Orchid Society. Most likely you are asking about a Phaelenopsis (fail-en-opsis) orchid. These often will re-flower lower down on the stem. I have seen some folks cut the stem just above this point with a sharp sterile knife or sterile pair of clippers.
When will my orchid bloom and do i cut off the stem from which the flower blooms?
make sure it has the nutrience.
no juss let it do its business.
Reply:donot cut the ded stalk. give plant food to it. i thought mine would never flower again. then 4 months later a stem from the original stalk that flowerd grew and now it is flowering again. have patience because the take a while to flower.
