It depends on what type of orchid and why/when it dropped its flowers.
If it was a natural drop, ie. its going out of season, water very sparingly, once or twice a month, and feed less, about once a month, with a one fifth feed. This will allow the plant to winter properly.
If the flowers dropped because of a change of position, movement, cold or drafts or if they are very sensitive, adrop in humidity, then you may be able to bring them on again during the season. To do this stand your orchid in its pot in distilled water, (only if you live in a hard water area, if you do, boil your water first, and dont forget to let it cool right down!), for a couple of hours, just enough to moisten the soil, at least once aweek during the hottest part of the season, with about one fifth the fertiliser you would give to a normal plant.
Remeber most potted tropical orchids prefer shade, not direct sunlight, a minimum night time temp of about 15C, depending on the species, and at least alittle humidity during the hotter days. If you have cold nights, wrap the plant in a clear plastic bag, inflate with a little breath, this should allow the plant to create a little humidity and retain some heat. But be careful, too much humidity, moisture on the plant will cause the stems to rot.
How does one care for an orchid after it has lost it's blossoms?
I would advise to give it a fertilizer and make sure you do not over water it. Orchids are very touchy.
