Orchids are fairly fragile and can't take much sun. Depending on how hot it gets where you live, make sure it has a good amount of shade for a large part of the day.
I have a fairly large orchid that i keep outside. how much sun should it have and how much sun can it tolerate
my mom loves orchids and we have a ton of them at home. If put in direct sunlight (here in southern california) it can most definitely kill the orchid. Since the sun is coming from the south, (us living north of the equator) we place our orchids on the north side of the house so the sun doesn't hit the orchids directly. on hot days we turn on a mister we have attached on a rail over the orchids.
Reply:You MUST find out the name of your orchid before you put it in the sun. Different types of orchids will not live in the sun. Click this link:
