I bought a cymbidium orchid from the grocery store. it's filled w/rocks. am i supposed to re-pot?
I grow cymbidium orchids. They like their roots crowded so don't repot until you practically can lift the root ball out in one piece. I have many in the ground, but am in a zone where we rarely have hard freezes, but if you want to keep it in the pot, inside the house, only go one pot size larger when you do repot it. I let mine go somewhat dry between waterings, they do not like to sit in moisture the bulbs get soft and mushy if they do. You can also use a commercially prepared orchid medium when you repot.
