I have the same Orchid, i bought it from a store for a ridiculously low price of £5! It has a stem of 13 flowers and 2 more coming which look like they are splitting into stems also.
I water it once a week and leave it in my dining room on the table, but out of direct sun. It is thriving beautifully.
It has been potted in a course bark mixture, which seems to be something it likes. Other peeps have them in soil and they barely last a few weeks when they buy them in soil!
Ive got an orchid but im really not sure on how to keep it alive and its general care! any tips?
There are 1,000 of different types of orchids from cold climates right through to tropical types. Some grow in soil, others on rocks and in trees. Some like full sun and some heavy shade. Have to find out what sort of orchid you have (like cymbidium or phalaenopsis) before anyone can give you specific instructions on how to grow it.
Reply:Orchids are great as the flowers last months.
Keep it in light place but not direct sunlight.
Water only when really dry - once every 10 days depends how warm your home is. Never ever pour water in centre as will rot orchid. never leave orchid sitting in water, just let water run through and drain.
Reply:See source for information and tips on growing phalaenopsis.
Reply:We keep ours on a n/w facing window sill so it doesn't get too much sun,
Water when really dry, using 1/2 strength Tomorite
Use rainwater if you live in a hard water area as they are lime haters
Reply:You should give it some love i gave my orchid love water and tlc and its already flowering great good luck to your orchid!
Reply:dont give it a lot of water.a little bit every dayor so is enough.
