What do i do with my orchid plant once all the flowers fall off?

Once the flowers fall off you can cut off part of the stem down to about 2 inches to 3 inches above the first node it will then bloom again. Try to make the orchid think it is in the rain forest. Place the pot in a bowl of water and let it get all the water that way it will be happy.

Take proper care of it and it will bloom again.

If the stem is still green, don't trim, keep on watering it, a little orchid food will help and hopefully more flowers will form on the stem that previously had flowers.
Reply:if the plant needs repotting then this is the time to do for the next bloom period. To determine if your plant needs to be repotted, check to see wether or not it will haveroom in the pot to grow a new shot. count the blubs live ones and ones that are dead. In repotting these plants you have to divide the plant up. The rule is 3 back bulbs to one live bulb, thats if you want theplant to bloom again in 4 to 6 months. If it doesnt need repotting. then just water it twice a week feed it once a month.these plants like morning sun afternoon partly shaded.
Reply:You should get a book that tells about orchids and their care. Orchids are considered exotic plants and are fun to grow. They are not like hyacynths or tulips, which you would throw away after they bloom, as an orchid can live and bloom for many years. Find out what variety of orchid you have, and then try to give it the conditons required for that variety. Check its potting medium. Does it seem fresh, or does it smell kind of moldy? If it has a musty smell, then you would want to repot it in orchid mix, following the directions on the bag, or from an orchid book. Orchids do not require frequent repotting, unless they have grown well over the pot, or the bark is not fresh. With fresh bark, you will see a happy plant that will produce new growths in the right conditions. Most orchid growers leave their plant in one piece because they want to grow "speciman plants". Additionally, if you separate your plant into more than one piece, unless it is especially large, it will set it back in its growth. If your plant can be grown on a windowsill, according to care instructions in a book, then find an appropriate place for it. Set it in a tray, and if you can put some gravel underneath the pot, that will be great for allowing water to drain when you water it, and for supplying moisture from the water that stays in the gravel. Get a spray bottle and mist the potting medium daily, and even the leaves, but not at night to avoid disease. If you follow care instructions, your plant may very well bloom again, soon, depending upon the variety. Some bloom once per year, some bloom more than once. Phalenopsis can bloom more than once, and these are often the type of orchid plants you will see at the retail chains. Good luck, and there are lots of orchid people who will answer more questions if you have them.
