Reply:Don't over water orchids; their roots will just rot and make sure the compost is really free draining so that water just runs straight through then between waterings let the compost dry out completely before giving it a good soaking then let it dry out again. It is better to under water than over water. Especially don't over water when it is dormant in fact you could probably not water at all unless the bulbs begin to shrival; they will soon plump up again.
