Do you have to water it every day?
How do you educate an orchid?
no.only when the soil is dry put your finger in about 1/2 inch if the soil is dry water it if the soil is moist leave it alone.give the plant enough sunlight.follow these 2 tips and you should have a healthy orchid that keeps growing.there actualy not hard to take care of they are a simple plant people tend to think they are hard because they cost so much.
Reply:Most orchids suffer from the potential to rot, if they are watered too much, though I don't know which type of Orchid that you have. Typically, once a week or so, submerging the pot into some water for a few minutes or so, is enough.
Phalaenopsis is the most commonly grown orchid, and this will really suffer from over watering. This plant has fleshy long oval leaves, and is commonly called the moth orchid. If you can, identify which orchid you have, and then seek out expert care tips for that type. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phalaenopsi... shows a few pictures of this type, if it helps.
Otherwise, it could be Cymbidium, which has reed like long leaves, and flowers naturally in spring. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cymbidium
Dendrobiums and Oncidiums are also grown.
Water all of these when the pot has become lighter, and dry on the surface, again typically once a week.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
