NO. Orchids need a growing medium that is extremely fast draining, keeps the roots cool and humid and gives the roots lots of oxygen. In nature, orchids grow on the side of trees with their roots just dangling in the air. They get the moisture that they need from rain showers and humidity in the air. They would drown in soil.
