How much light does an orchid need to survive?

I have an office that has some but not much sunlight. Will my phalaenopsis survive or should I bring it home.

How much light does an orchid need to survive?
A phalaenopsis orchid needs bright indirect sunlight, moderate humidity, and warm temperatures in the 70's for it to thrive. If you want it to bloom for you next year, I suggest bringing it home and putting it in the sunniest room in your home. Just make sure it doesn't get direct sun because the leaves may burn. Make sure you provide adequate humidity for it by misting it daily (preferably in the morning) or keeping it in a humidity tray - a saucer with pebbles and some water. Your phalaenopsis will survive in an office, but it is highly unlikely that it will thrive without much sunlight. Water about once a week - I take mine to the sink and give them a warm spray from the shower head until the water drains out of the bottom a few times. One of the easiest ways to kill an orchid is to overwater. Good luck
Reply:In the wild, orchids live way up the tree in the crotches. It gets the morning sun, filtered afternoon and then the setting sun. Don't pot it up in plain soil. as the roots are designed to cling onto the bark and get what it needs to live from the moisture and bird droppings. Use the mixture for them and there will be no problem at the roots Keep the temperature well above 50 F as this is too cold for them, more like 70 or above
Reply:water alot when its too hot. thats what my mum does to orchids when the sun is too hot.
Reply:An orchid need a lot of morning sun but you shouldn't leave them in hot hot afternoon sun because it will burn the plant. so if your office only gets the morning sun and not alot of the afternoon sun it should be fine.
