If your Orchid has finished flowering and the leaves have swollen at the base, do not water again for approx' 2 months. Leave the soil to dry out completely. Once the 2 month period is up, water once a fortnight with tepid water. When you see growing shoots form, water once a week, again with tepid water, and feed with a liquid feed about once a month.
How does one take care of an orchid?
I have had an orchid plant for several years and it blooms too. I keep it in a bright spot (not direct sunlight) and keep it moist and that is it. Very easy
Reply:my step-mum got one for her birthday and al she did was kept watering it lol. it should re-blossom next year if you do it right. good luck XD
Reply:1: Keep it somewhere like a north-facing windowsill, so it gets light, but not direct sunlight
2: Get a CLEAR PLASTIC pot, and special "orchid compost" so you can SEE the roots.
3: If the roots are still green DO NOT WATER. Wait until they are white, and the plant is very light to lift.
It's far easier to kill an orchid by over-watering than under-watering. They really, really hate getting their feet wet.
4: Once in a while, give it a feed - but only a few times a year, not with every watering.
5: When the flowers fall off, you can cut off the flowerspikes if you want, but that's more a question of keeping it looking nice, rather than actually keeping it healthy.
Reply:water it once a day (i usually water it every morning) and put it where it can be spoted by the sun
